Protesters say they must protect themselves by creating petrol bombs and bows and arrows, amid escalating clashes at universities.
According to SCMP, the 50-meter-long swimming pool at Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, turned into a place where protesters practice how to use petrol bombs, with black smoke rising constantly.
A bridge at Sha Tin University, protesters set up checkpoints for people entering the dormitory. Containers of gasoline bombs on the ground can be used at any time.
Protesters taught each other how to make petrol bombs, with items such as oil, gasoline, lighters ... scattered on the ground.
“We use gasoline bombs only when attacked by police. This is the last resort, ”said Hui, a 19-year-old student.
For the fifth day in a row protesters disrupted traffic and seized universities in Hong Kong. Police protesters stormed the university to arrest them, while police said they only arrested offenders.
Chinese universities have confirmed that flammable objects and dangerous chemicals removed by protesters from the lab could be used as explosives.
Dozens of protesters stood huddled, instructing each other on how to make gasoline bombs, mixing chemicals together.
Protesters said setting up a checkpoint was necessary, avoiding police mixing. "Anyone who wants to enter here is allowed as long as they do not carry a gun or baton."
