Qua quá trình xét hỏi, Viện kiểm sát nhân dân tỉnh Điện Biên xác định các bị cáo đã cùng nhau hiếp dâm, sát hại nữ sinh giao gà Cao Mỹ Duyên ở Điện Biên. Theo Viện kiểm sát, tội ác này là rất dã man, gây phẫn nộ trong dư luận và đề nghị tử hình 6 bị cáo trong vụ án.
