It's believed the man's truck rolled on him when it was hit by extreme winds near Albury. Two others suffered burns.
Meanwhile, catastrophic conditions continue in Victoria.
There are emergency warnings for fires burning on the Victoria/New South Wales border near Corryong, in Melbourne's northern suburbs, where a bushfire is threatening homes in Bundoora, Greensborough and Mill Park, and there are major concerns tonight for large parts of East Gippsland where there are 10 emergency warnings in place.
