As night fell on Thursday, video captured French police dragging and beating a protester on the ground as black-clad protesters advanced and rebutted with projectiles and firecrackers amid tear gas smoke, at the iconic Place de la Republique, as a pension strike in Paris turned violent.
More than 180,000 union members took to the streets in nationwide protests against President Emmanuel Macron's proposed pension reforms in France on Thursday, according to authorities.
