Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has been sentenced to death in a high treason case.
It is the first time in the country's history a former military ruler has been handed a death sentence.
Musharraf lives in self-imposed exile in Dubai and was tried in absentia in the capital Islamabad.
The case was filed in 2007.
Political analyst Tariq Pirzada discusses the outcome with Al Jazeera.
