A prayer service was held inside al-Rashid Mosque in Aleppo on Friday, to honour Iranian Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani, one day after he was killed in a US airstrike at Baghdad's international airport.
Mourners could be seen gathered inside the shrine of the Syrian city, as they paid their respects in front of Soleimani's portraits.
A funeral ceremony for Soleimani, alongside deputy leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Mohammed Ali Ebrahimi, will take place in Baghdad on Saturday. Soleimani's body will later be buried in his hometown Kerman after another ceremony in Tehran.
