Australia needs to boost coronavirus 'surveillance and protection'

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners' Dr Harry Nespolon says “the government is doing the best that they can” in dealing with the spread of the coronavirus and Australia is “still of very low risk”.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade recently upgraded travel advice to the highest level and advised people not to visit China.

This announcement coincided with the decision to refuse entry to non-Australians attempting to arrive from China which Dr Nespolon told Sky News “will help to decrease the number of potential cases”.

“We need to keep an eye on what is going on and increase our surveillance and protection measures as time goes on”.
