Loony left’ want to ‘shut down coal’

Sky News host Peter Gleeson says “loony lefties” are linking bushfires to climate change to create a “political argument to shut down coal”.

Mr Gleeson said “eco-vandals intent on corporate blackmail” have failed to acknowledge the role a lack of back burning and hazard reduction has played in the recent fires.

“We have loony lefties linking bushfires to climate change and using that as a political argument to shut down coal,” he said.

“Aided and abetted by eco-vandals intent on corporate blackmail, they are so thick that they won’t even acknowledge that a lack of back burning and hazard reduction has also contributed to the bushfires.”

He said Queensland would have to export coal to states which have embraced “hardcore renewable energy targets” in the name of climate change.

“As Australia swelters through summer, the issue around power reliability has once again emerged as Victoria and South Australia are warned to get ready for brownouts.

“Queensland, which relies ostensibly on coal fired power, will embark on its annual load shedding exercise, diverting electricity to the southern states.

“All because Victoria and South Australia have embraced hardcore renewable energy targets, hurting their reliability.
“Once again, Queensland will do the heavy lifting on gas, exporting big numbers to Victoria to keep the stoves and lights on.”
